Puulate is a builder, inventor and creative maker known for his playful projects that combine electronics, wood, metal and laser work. When he began renovating his own sauna, the goal was to find a solution that blends traditional sauna atmosphere and modern design.

A fully Finnish option that combines style and performance
During the renovation, Puulate wanted to find a stove whose appearance would perfectly match the rest of the sauna. The search led to the Mondex Klapi, a compact wood-burning stove made in Finland that combines a traditional sauna experience with modern and efficient design.
Klapi immediately impressed with its design and details. Puulate especially appreciated that the Mondex logo is stylishly embedded into the design and does not stand out too much. The round shape makes the sauna feel more spacious and the amount of stones is significantly larger than in the old stove.
Mondex Klapi features modern secondary combustion of flue gases, ensuring cleaner and more efficient burning. Less ash is produced and the glass stays clean for a long time. Puulate also praised the draft control plate, which proved important in his sauna, as the tall chimney had previously caused too strong a draft.
Easy installation and perfect steam
Installing the stove went smoothly. A positive surprise was how quickly Klapi heated up, as just one load of firewood was enough to heat the stones properly and get the sauna ready.
The steam lasts long and offers variety. Water thrown onto the hot top stones gives sharp and long-lasting löyly, while water thrown onto the side stones creates a more humid and soft atmosphere. “When you throw löyly properly, you get your skin tingling and can take what I call ski jumpers,” as Puulate described with a laugh.
Part of everyday life and relaxation
Sauna is an important part of Puulate’s family life and an almost daily ritual during which the mind calms and the day’s rush fades away. Between steam sessions they dip into a nearby pond and then return to the heat.
